Dona Bertarelli served as Executive Director, Public and Professional Affairs at Serono International SA, Geneva, Switzerland from 1992 to 1997. In 1998, Ms. Bertarelli took a leave of absence from Serono to become a mother. After the sale by the family of the company in 2007, Dona became increasingly involved in other business ventures in the luxury and sports worlds, in addition to her philanthropic activities. She sits on the Board of several companies and is actively involved in managing the family’s business interests.

Co-President and Board member of the  Bertarelli Foundation, Dona Bertarelli champions all the areas that the Bertarelli Foundation supports:  life sciences, culture, education, sport, environment, and children. Instrumental in the continuity of the Foundation, Dona both manages and participates in the Foundation’s activities. Dona is the godmother for the Smiling Children charity, which has projects in several countries.

Owner of the five star Grand Hotel Park in Gstaad, which in 2010 was completely refurbished to celebrate the hotel’s centenary, Dona and her team have created a winter and summer holiday destination appreciated by fine connaisseurs of quality and luxury hospitality.
A committed sailor, Dona launched her Decision 35 catamaran Ladycatin April 2007; Ladycat competes with a mainly female team of international sailors on Lake Geneva during the regatta season. In 2010, Ladycat, with Dona Bertarelli at the helm, won the prestigious Bol d'Or Mirabaud race. Through her boat, Ms Bertarelli supports the Vaud transfusion service campaign, Ma vie ton sang, to promote blood donation.
 
An accomplished sportswoman, Ms Bertarelli plays tennis, golf, practises both water and alpine skiing and horseback riding. She is active in several charitable foundations, in particular dedicated to helping children.
